Jony Ive, Apple’s top designer, continues to move up the ranks at the Californian company. Last we heard, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of Design after the introduction of iOS 7, whereas before he only had a degree in industrial design. However, now that he also designs the software interfaces, it makes sense to make his position more generic.
We all knew that Jony Ive came to lead the human interface design department when Scott Forstall left Apple. As a result of this change we have had iOS 7 among us for a little over a week now.
So, Apple has decided to change its role in the company and put him in the position of senior vice president in Design , whereas before he was only in Industrial Design, as he only designed the hardware of the products. Now, as we know, he is also in charge of designing the application interfaces.
This change, which has gone unnoticed by everyone, and which has not even been mentioned in a press release , seems to have happened just this week, after the launch of iOS 7. It has not been reflected yet in all the websites, and it is only reflected in the American Apple’s website, because in the Spanish press area it still keeps its Industrial Design title.
