This is undoubtedly one of the news of the year: J ony Ive leaves Apple to open an independent company of which Cupertino’s company will be a client. The former head of design at Apple has wanted to be more prominent and independent by setting up his own company, although he will continue to participate in Apple’s projects, which is quite a relief because we already suffered from his temporary absence from the company with quite unfortunate designs.
No doubt Jony Ive has played a crucial role in Cupertino’s company, as he has been working in it for 30 years which is soon to be said. He has been the thinking head of numerous product designs and is of course considered to be one of the people responsible for the success of the company in recent years.
Tim Cook wanted to make some statements regarding this march through a press release that is published on the official website of Apple. The specific words were the following:
Jony is a singular figure in the world of design and his role in the Apple renaissance cannot be overstated, from the innovative 1998 iMac to the iPhone and the unprecedented ambition of Apple Park, where he has recently been putting so much of his energy and care. Apple will continue to benefit from Jony’s talent by working directly with him on exclusive projects, and through the continued work of the brilliant and passionate design team he has built. After so many years of working closely together, I am happy that our relationship continues to evolve and look forward to working with Jony in the future.
We have no knowledge of why Ive has made this drastic decision to leave the company. Perhaps her need to open her mind was one of the reasons as she has certainly been quite well looked after within the company or at least that is what has been tried to convey.
His work or has been recognized with countless awards and with the praise of customers of the products as we all remember the design of iMac 1998 or some iPhone that undoubtedly have gone down in history for being beautiful.
As we said, the relationship has not ended badly because although Jony Ive is going to set up an independent company, will continue to work closely with Apple on their projects so we can breathe easy that we will not see real nonsense in the line of design as his hand will still be present. Besides with Apple, Jony Ive hopes to work in many other projects of different nature opening his horizons beyond Apple, something we certainly understand.
In addition to Tim Cook’s words, in the press release announcing his departure Jony Ive also published some words that are as follows:
After almost 30 years and countless projects, I’m very proud of the hard work we’ve done to create a design, process and culture team at Apple that is unparalleled. It is stronger, more vibrant and more talented today than at any time in Apple’s history. The team will certainly thrive under the excellent leadership of Evans, Alan and Jeff, who have been among my closest collaborators. I have the utmost confidence in my fellow designers at Apple, who remain my closest friends, and I look forward to working with them for many years to come.
We will be looking forward to future interviews with the former head of design of the company as well as his successor who is not yet known.
