Jony Ive and Marc Newson have contributed to a charity auction of Product (RED), the solidarity campaign of the U2 singer, Bono, which will be organized on November 23rd in New York, with several valuable objects created entirely or modified by them for the occasion. Among these are golden Apple Earpods and an exclusive Steinway & Sons piano.
Jony Ive, Apple’s senior vice president of design, who was responsible for the complete redesign of the iOS 7 interface, contributed to a charity auction by creating a golden headset . This auction is part of the project of the singer of the rock group U2, Bono, called Product (RED), in which Apple has participated on several occasions with exclusive products that have destined part of the benefits of their sale to charity.
Several products created or modified by Jony Ive himself and his friend and designer Marc Newson have been presented at this auction, including a 1966 Don Perignon red-labeled bottle, an exclusive Steinway & Sons piano and the 16-carat gold Apple Earpods.
The charity auction will take place on November 23rd at Sotheby’s in New York . We hope that Jony Ive, Marc Newson and Bono will raise a lot of money with this great initiative that has been going on for a few years and that they can, in this creative and ingenious way, contribute a grain of sand to the poorest.
