It is small, it recovers a size that we had already given up, and on top of that it revives the design of another model from the past. It seemed that Apple had resorted to removing the box to see which terminal was more accessible, but no, spin much thinner and the small one in the house has much more grip than you might think.
It appears that the iPhone SE is seriously threatening Xiaomi and Huawei in China, at least as far as handset reservations are concerned.
Redmond Pie (quoting DigiTimes) anticipates that in that country 3.4 million units would have been reserved within a month of the marketing of the house’s baby in the Asian giant. And with this promising start, Apple would hit its rivals at home and where it hurts most: the combination quality and price .
Expanding the niche but not cannibalizing
There have been many occasions when Apple has been sued for the launch of the ‘low-cost iPhone’ and it is true that the firm would have had no problem doing it before by combining components and its extensive experience. However, with the iPhone SE, Apple is pursuing something very different: to enter a new market segment without competing with its own range , as Carolina Milanesi of Kantar explains.
One of the biggest fears of the Californians was to drag users of superior models to the low-cost model and thus not expand market share, but change hands of the deck. With the SE the firm would appeal to those users who want to renew their smartphone but do not require the advances of the superior models or their big screen.

Apple is betting strongly on China because of its high growth potential and the skilful combination of affordable price with high quality, would be putting its most direct rivals in that country that would have started to reduce stocks of components before the arrival of the SE.
“A ‘retro’ and fashionable product”
On the other hand, the launch of the SE has been placed in time away from the usual star iPhone, at the end of the year, to avoid possible risks of cannibalization with those who want to renew the mobile this year. Kantar’s analyst explains that with the SE, Apple would have managed to present a “retro and trendy” mobile with its strange configuration of an old chassis and renewed engine.
It has been one of the great criticisms that Cupertino’s have received: to take advantage of the design of the 5s in a terminal presented years later. However, Apple would have achieved two things with this decision: lowered production costs by using a design already in use, and introduced a ‘retro’ mobile , giving the team its own personality.
This would be a lesson learned by Apple with the iPhone 5c, and that is that many users assumed that the ‘c’ came from ‘cheap’ and did not understand that the price was so high. The SE (some understand that it refers to Special Edition) solves this dilemma : it is cheaper and has the premium air of the 5s finish. The little one has started its silent invasion and will succeed mainly in emerging markets.
