We compared the features of the iPad Air 2 with the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet
With the iPad Air 2 about to go on sale, the first comparisons with other tablets with which it will have to compete are starting to appear. This time, will compare the Air 2 with the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet , the latest model launched by the Japanese company. While the first-generation iPad Air was already proving to be very thin and light, the new generation is not lagging behind and even surpassing it.
The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, on the other hand, is a tablet with very powerful features and a quite interesting price , which makes it one of the main Android rivals that will have the new Air 2.
But which of the two tablets is better? Which one has the best technical characteristics? Here we tell you the main features of both the iPad Air 2 and the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet so that you can decide for yourself. Let’s get started!
Key features of the iPad Air 2 and Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet
The iPad Air 2 offers a better display, featuring a 9.7-inch screen with Retina technology with a resolution of 1,536×2,048 pixels and a density of 264 pixels per inch. The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet has a slightly larger screen, at 10.1 inches. This screen features Triluminescent technology and X-Reality engine , a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and a density of 244 pixels per inch.
Processor and memory
In this regard, the tablet from Sony is the one that shows a bit more thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad-core 2.3GHz processor and 3GB RAM , while the iPad Air 2 integrates an A8X 1.5GHz chip and 2GB RAM. But as we always say, that doesn’t necessarily mean it offers inferior performance.
As far as internal storage is concerned, the Apple tablet has 3 different versions: 16, 64 and 128GB . The Sony tablet has an internal storage of 16GB, which can be increased to 64GB by means of a microSD card.
The rear camera of both devices has an 8 megapixel sensor , although we’ll probably notice some difference in quality when taking photos and recording videos, but we’ll have to wait until we have the iPad Air 2 to be able to compare it better. On the front, the device mounts a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime HD camera and the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet mounts a 2.2-megapixel camera.
Sony has chosen to do away with the glass case used in smartphones, although this does not make the tablet design any less elegant or robust. It should also be said that it has the advantage that is water and dust resistant , while the Apple tablet is not. The Cupertino guys, for their part, have opted for the rear casing made of anodised aluminium in three colours: space grey, silver and gold .
Both devices are really thin, a point where they stand out from most tablets on the market, being the iPad Air 2 with its 6.1 millimeters thinner than the Xperia Z2 Tablet, which is 6.4 millimeters thick. Another highlight is its weight. It weighs 437 grams, while the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet weighs 426 grams, both very similar.
Sony has included a 6,000mAh capacity battery , but we still don’t know how much capacity the battery of the new iPad Air 2 will have because Apple hasn’t revealed it yet and we won’t know until it goes on sale and one of them is dismantled. However, there are those who believe that it could have an 8,600mAh battery.
Last but not least, the Tabletzona guys do a little review of the prices for which we can find these two tablets on the market. The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet has been with us for some months now and we can find it for a price of around 420 and 440 euros , while the new iPad Air 2 will go on sale in the next few days and will do so with a price starting from 489 euros onwards.
And you, which of the two tablets would you take? Which one do you think is better?
