iOS no longer safer than Android according to researchers

It has always been said that iOS was a much more secure system than Android because it was not attacked as much and was much more sealed to prevent hackers from entering. Now this idea has ended up changing completely after the latest security problems reported in the last weeks, especially the one published by Google’s security team last week.

It is well known that the reporting of security flaws in Android and iOS pays quite well for Zerodium. The amount that could be paid was higher in iOS than in Android because it was harder to find this kind of vulnerability in Apple’s operating system but now the tables have turned.

Zerodium has updated its pricing policy and right now if we find a vulnerability in Android that allows someone to take full control of the device without the user clicking on anything we will receive 2.5 million dollars. On the other hand, if we make this discovery in iOS we will receive 2 million dollars. Also the report of iOS exploits with 1 click of the user has gone down from 1.5 million dollars to 1 million dollars.

Why have the vulnerability reporting prices in iOS dropped? The founder of Zerodium himself explains that right now there are many iOS exploits, especially Safari and iMessage chains. This is because security researchers trying to discover these vulnerabilities have started to focus all their time on iOS, totally destroying the security that Apple’s operating system had. They have even claimed that t has so many iOS vulnerabilities that they have been forced to reject some of them , something that surprises us a lot.

This makes it clear that there is no safe operating system and if you search at the end you will find important errors. It is possible that a few years ago security researchers did not focus so much on iOS and that is why we thought it was much safer than Android but now this idea has changed completely.

Apple is aware of this security problem and has opened a reward program so that investigators can report directly to Apple the failures they find in exchange for receiving more money. We must also mention that Cupertino’s company will soon start distributing iPhone with a specific software that will make the task of security investigators easier.

In the end Apple benefits from having its software investigated as they can work in the coming months to improve their security and prevent users from being targeted by hackers who seek to exploit these vulnerabilities. But Apple must also be careful because we must remember that in iOS 12.4 the patch was removed to a security hole that was fixed in previous versions something that was undoubtedly a major bug that Apple is responsible for.
