And now it seems the Swedish company wants to go further.
A registration at the US FCC has revealed switches of what may be a smart shutter , so far identified with the model name “E1766 Tradfri”. Tradfri is the brand name of IKEA’s home automation products.
The description couldn’t be simpler: a switch that remotely opens or closes a motorized blind. Apparently IKEA was already planning to sell this type of shutter, since alternative automated solutions are very expensive and there is a market opportunity with a more economical model.
What we don’t know is if we are talking about the classic blinds we know in Spain, which are installed on top of the windows and open or close with a strap, or something simpler like office blinds that let or don’t let light through depending on whether you turn a plastic.
We will know as soon as IKEA decides to launch this new product. Of course, you can tell that they want to take advantage of all the smart accessories for the house that are giving so much play.
