However, large and powerful applications from the App Store have not yet arrived on the platform, for example Spotify.
And that’s because even despite the requests of users and the relevance and usefulness that will have the service on Apple TV, developers are not yet planning to launch the application for tvOS. This is how they have confirmed it through GitHub.
In a comment made by one of the users on GitHub asking the developers about the possible release, Samuel Erdtman, Spotify Product Owner said the following:
There are two possibilities, either Apple puts too many obstacles in the way of subscription services or Spotify thinks that the number of users with Apple TV is not big enough . But since other subscription services are on Apple TV, such as Netflix, and since the changes in the App Store in May benefit subscriptions… it is presumably due to the few users on the platform.
As a user of Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV, there are a number of advantages to using Apple services and not those of third parties: integration . Therefore, Apple Music has a certain advantage over Spotify in this respect.
Another option however, is to use Spotify and make use of AirPlay for playback on TV. To do that, you need to have both iPhoneiPad and Apple TV on the same Wi-Fi network. It’s a halfway solution, as long as the native app for Apple TV fourth generation arrives.
