This service, which works on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) with 4.X operating system, was launched by Apple in the United States in July so that developers could get extra benefit from their applications and also to compete with the advertising services that Google had already introduced in many applications on Apple devices. The brands that Apple will start working with in Europe are L’Oréal, Reanault, Louis Vuitton, Nespresso, Perrier, Unilever, Citi, Evian, LG Display, AB InBev, Turkish Airlines and Absolute Radio.
iAd , introduced in iOS 4, allows users to view advertising by staying in the app itself and returning to it whenever they want, in a much more interactive way than the hitherto traditional banner which, when clicked, cut the app off and directed it to the advertiser’s website via Safari.
If you are a developer and are interested in this option to get extra benefit from your application, you can visit developer.apple.comiad to join the iAd network and get more information about the platform. Conversely, if you’re an advertiser and would like to place advertising on the iPhone or iPad, you can learn more at advertising.apple.com
