To define a photo (or any other type of image: drawings, illustrations, cartoons…) to the contacts of your iOS device you must do the following

  1. Open the Contacts app.
  2. Touch the contact to which you want to add the image.
  3. Click on the Edit button in the upper right corner of the screen.
  4. Tap on Add photo at the top of the contact information; next to the space to put your name.
  5. A menu will be displayed where you must select whether you want to take a new photo or select one from the device’s reel. Choose the option you prefer and take the photo or select one from the reel.
  6. Adjust the photo to the template that will appear. The circle indicates the part that will be displayed in the contact information, message list, etc., etc. Once selected, tap on Use.
  7. Finally, confirm the changes by tapping on the OK button in the top right corner of the screen.

That’s it, after following these steps the image will be associated with the contact and whenever you receive or make a call to it you will see the picture. It will also be displayed in the message list of the Messages app.
