Both iOS 13 and iPadOS include a new and improved photo and, for the first time, video editor. Apple allows us to make a huge number of adjustments to photos and videos from the native photo application such as cropping, perspective adjustment, modification of exposure settings, saturation, and much more.
That’s why today we’re going to show you all the adjustments you can make to both photos and videos, because they’re exactly the same, from the native iOS 13 and iPadOS app.
The new Photo application that Apple has included in its new updates gives us as many options as any other application in the App Store for photo retouching , so if you learn how to use it you won’t need anything else to leave your photos perfect.
These settings can be found by going into the Photos app, selecting the photo or video you want to edit and clicking on the top right corner under “Edit” .
Settings available in Photos
The Photos application includes a large number of settings that can be applied to both photos and videos. In the section below we must select a small wheel with several points around it . Then to edit each setting we will move a bottom bar from right to left.
These are the settings we found:
- Clear areas.
- Black dot.
- Noise reduction.
Photo and video filters
Another option to include in the Photos application natively are the filters, again or applicable to both a photo and a video . These are the filters we found:
- Warm vivid.
- Vivid cold.
- Dramatic warmth.
- Dramatic cold.
Clipping and changing perspective
And here we come to one of the most interesting sections of all the settings that the new iOS 13 and iPadOS photos app allows us to do. We can crop a photo or video, straighten it and change its perspective both vertically and horizontally . For these options to appear we only have to click on the last of the icons.
- Crop: to crop a photo or video you just have to move the frame that will appear over the photo or video and click on Ok. On the top right we have different formats (1:1, 16:9, 10:8…) we can select the one we are interested in and then adjust the crop.
- Flip and turn: if we click on the icons at the top left we can flip the image horizontally and turn it to the right, if we want to turn it to the left we must pass the icon several times.
- Straightening and perspective changes: we have three more settings in this section. The first icon is the straighten icon, which will allow us to rotate a photo to both sides and then we have two icons that will allow us to change the perspective of a photo horizontally and vertically, something very useful in photos that we have taken from the side.
As we can see Apple has greatly enhanced its Photo application and editing options and the best thing about it is that all these adjustments can be made to videos as well, something unique that we had never seen before.
