True Tone has been added to a large number of features and functions that Apple has been implementing in its new iPhones and iPads: Touch ID, 3D Touch, Live Photos, Retina Flash, Night Shift… In this article you will discover how it works and what advantages True Tone offers us.

What is True Tone?

True Tone is a technology that can automatically adjust the colour tone of the temperature on the 9.7-inch iPad Pro screen based on the lighting and environment in each location.

How does True Tone work?

The new iPad Pro has 4 sensors that measure the illumination and brightness of the ambient colour, allowing the display to correct white colours and illumination, as well as saturation . The aim of the True Tone system is to provide a better user experience through colour calibration.

How is True Tone different from Night Shift?

A matter of weeks ago we presented you with an interesting article on the workings of Night Shift. This is a new mode for iOS 9.3 that has been implemented in the Control Center and offers us the possibility to automatically adjust the color tone of the iPad screen to reduce the blue light and allow us to fall asleep more easily at night.

On the other hand, and as we mentioned before, True Tone is in charge of correcting the white balance to allow us to read, explore the web, draw and use apps in a much more comfortable way for the retina of our eyes.

So, finally, the True Tone screen together with the anti-fingerprint oil cover , with the integral lamination and with the anti-reflective film , provides users with a better experience when playing videos, reading books, visiting websites, etc, from any location, whatever the lighting.
