51 new emojis are ready for the presentation of Unicode 10 in 2017

While Apple is bringing a number of new emojis to its users with the upcoming iOS 10.2 release, the Unicode consortium approved 51 new emojis as part of the Unicode 10 release.

The new emojis are based on third party applications to the consortium over the past year and include emojis representing breastfeeding and a hijab emoji, as well as many others of gestures and food.

In total, there are 36 new emoji faces that come as part of Unicode 10. Among these are the flying saucer, the surprised face with explosion in the head, the face with vomiting, the open mouth and the smiling face with star eyes.

Other additions include an emoji for breastfeeding, as well as emoji representing palms raised together. In addition, there are a variety of new emojis of foods, including those in a bowl with soup, coconut, broccoli, cake, pretzel, sandwich and canned food.

In terms of animals, there are now figures of a giraffe, zebra and a hedgehog. In terms of people, there is now a “man with a beard”, a “person with a handkerchief”, a “person in a steam room” and a “person in a lotus position” “.

Last but not least, there are a handful of other random new emoji, including: Fairy, vampire, goblin, zombie, brain, orange heart, scarf, gloves, cape, socks, and a sleigh. During the summer, Unicode 9.0 was officialized 72 new emojis, including bacon, selfie, and a clown face. Many of the emojis from Unicode 9.0 come to iOS with iOS 10.2.

For now it is not clear when we will see Unicode 10 coming to iOS, but it is likely to happen in the first quarter of 2017, leaving time for the consortium to make the necessary modifications for the new release.
