Nobody denies that both Apple and Google have recently launched the best smartphones in history: the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus, the iPhone X, the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL.
In addition, these smartphones run iOS and Android, the two most reliable mobile operating systems. However, they are having a lot of problems regarding software.
When you are buying a smartphone for more than 1,000 euros, this kind of software problem is inexcusable, unforgivable.
Software issues on Apple and Google smartphones
It seems that, every day that passes, a new problem is discovered in the software related to the iPhone X, the Pixel 2 or the Pixel 2 XL. At first we were talking about the burn-in effect of OLED screens…
Then, some problems with the audio of the calls appeared. Then, the Pixel 2 notification LED was not working when it should have been on.
Although it must be acknowledged that both the new Apple iPhones and the Google Pixel, at least, do not have the problem of excessive battery consumption that affects previous generation terminals.
If you think that these were the only problems that the new devices brought about, you are totally wrong. In fact, some people are said to have received Google’s Pixel 2… without Android installed!
And this brings us to the next question… Should Apple wait any longer to release its new versions of iOS? And what about smartphones? Maybe, if the company would perform more tests and trials to their devices this kind of problems would not happen . But of course, technology advances, and they have to introduce a new product every year so that competitors don’t leave them behind…
Despite this criticism, especially dedicated to Google and Apple, I beg you not to confuse my words. I love the products presented by both companies, they are a design and software engineering prodigy. And I love the way they listen to their customers in order to improve the quality of their products.
But… imagine you’re on your way, with all the excitement in the world, to your nearest Apple Store (some are really far away), you spend over 1,000 euros on an iPhone X and you find these nasty surprises:
- It has a green line on the screen.
- High contrast images leave the burn-in effect.
- Your OLED display does not work in low temperatures.
- There’s a strange noise in the audio calls.
- There’s a buzz in the content playback.
Now we understand why Apple had so many problems in the manufacturing process of its terminals. Let’s hope that in the future we can get rid of these annoying software problems that, however small, prevent many people from enjoying their new iPhone and Pixel.
