The iPhone 6 will be out next summer, or so analyst Gene Munster thinks
Apple’s new iPhone 5s and 5c have just landed in most countries, but that doesn’t stop rumors about next year’s possible iPhone 6 from starting. The well-known analyst Gene Munster has made his predictions in a note sent to investors, predictions that include the iPhone 6.
Munster’s pretty optimistic about Apple’s stock price. According to the analyst, the target price is $640, when the shares are currently at a price of $531. This optimism is attributed to the new products that Apple could launch in 2014.
Apple may be preparing an iPhone 6 with a larger screen
Apple shares, as most of you will remember, collapsed last year during the last quarter of the year, as investors were worried about low sales following the iPhone 5 boom. Munster says that the drop in sales in the last quarter of this year will be pronounced, but that will not be as extreme as last year’s. The analyst expects the demand for the 5s to be more sustained .
In addition to improved demand for the iPhone 5s, the analyst predicts that Apple will launch the iPhone 6 in the summer of 2014 , bringing forward the brand’s regular update cycle. Munster says that the iPhone 6 will have a larger screen and be a success, enough to offset any slowdown in sales of the 5s.
Munster also uses the note to comment that he believes Apple is working on a smart clock, known as iWatch, and a television.
The Business Insider guys have commented that some of Munster’s predictions make sense, but others are a little more dubious. Apple is expected to launch a smartphone with a larger screen, but it would be strange if they were to change the renewal cycle again, which is set for the fall.
On the other hand, we have the iWatch. It is almost certain that Apple has such a device in its laboratories, but what is not clear is when it will be on the market. While Munster says it will be next year, the BI people think that this product will not see the light until 2015 . According to them, in the rest of the year Apple will refine the product, in 2014 it will prepare the production and in the beginning of 2015 it will manufacture it.
We’re left with the so-called Apple TV, which some of us call iTV. Munster says it exists, the BI people say it doesn’t, that the rumored Apple TV is actually a hardware upgrade to the Apple TV that could see the light of day in the spring of 2014. If this is finally the case, we don’t know what will happen to the shares, as investors are expecting a 4K TV, so they might be very disappointed.
What do you think? What products do you think Apple has in its hat?
