The dark mode in operating systems and applications is becoming fashionable. We’ve already seen how this has been one of the main new features of iOS 13 and iPadOS, the new software versions that will arrive on iPhone and iPad this fall. Also others like Huawei has incorporated it with its EMUI customization layer. In apps such as Twitter or YouTube it is already present and, as far as we have been able to find out recently, it will also be on Facebook soon.
Beyond the controversies and privacy scandals on Facebook, which have been not few, few people doubt that the app created by Mark Zuckerberg is the mother of all social networks. However, we haven’t seen too many remarkable changes in mobile apps in the last few years beyond some icon or navigation tab changes.
While there are many users who prefer light-colored viewing for their applications, the truth is that there are a large number of people who enjoy the way some dark-colored apps look in so-called night modes or dark modes. These options could come to Facebook very soon, as code researcher Jane Mnchun Wong revealed.
Wong shared with everyone on his blog the discovery of part of the Facebook code for Android in which he checks how the developers are preparing the dark mode . Also in the code of iOS are these indications that this new feature is also being prepared for the iPhone and iPad.
The researcher herself states that there are no references as to how long it will take for Facebook to officially add the dark mode for all users, however we believe it could be before the end of the year. We remind you that in the complementary messaging app to this one, Facebook Messenger, we can already enjoy this mode.
