It’s a big version change, but the news is rather subtle. Subtle and at the same time interesting: possibility to send short videos at lightning speed and to send thumbs up of various sizes.

It is in the interface where these new features become interesting: sending the thumb up image smaller or larger will depend on how much we are pressing it, as if we were blowing up a balloon . In fact it sounds the same, and if we pass the image it will “pop” and we’ll have to start over.

The same goes for short videos up to fifteen seconds : we use the camera interface already renewed in the last update and if instead of simply pressing the shutter button we keep it pressed we will record a video that will be sent as soon as we move our finger away from the screen.

We must admit that almost without realizing it, Facebook Messenger has become one of the most popular instant messaging clients in iOS . It is not perfect, but it is very complete and at the same time the interface to send all kinds of data is simple to use. It’s those little details, like the fist blowing up like a balloon, that at least appeal to me as a user.
