Photos, videos, messages, calendars, documents of all kinds… The data we store on our devices is extremely important and losing it can be a tragedy. Who would like to lose their photos from their last trip or their wedding? They are unrepeatable memories and keeping them is vital.
Unfortunately it is common to delete a file by mistake or to have a device fail. What would happen if you lost your iPhone right now? If you don’t have a recent backup, you may not be able to recover the information you stored. If you have a recent backup, you may not have another device to dump that backup to easily access the data.
This is where software such as Disk Drill 3 comes into play, an application that will allow you to recover data from iPhone, iPad and iPod backups, as well as external or internal hard drives connected to a Mac or Windows PC . We could say it’s the all-in-one for data recovery.
The operation mode of the software is simple and quite intuitive. As soon as you open it, you will find a window in which all the drives, devices and backups it is capable of working on are listed. All you have to do to use the data recovery function is choose the device and click on the button Recover . But to understand us better I leave you with a step-by-step explanation.
How to recover data from an iPhone, iPad or iPod
In the example we are going to use a backup made with iTunes to recover data , but it is really possible to directly connect an iOS device and do it on the fly (although the software will still work on a backup that it will make when starting the recovery process).
The steps you should follow are as follows:
1.- Click on the button Recover on the device or unit you want to work on. In the case of the example it is a backup made from iTunes as I mentioned.
2.- The software will start working and once it is finished it will show you a screen similar to the one in the screenshot below. In it you will see all the data that it is able to recover ordered by categories.
3.- Click on the category from which you want to recover content and select the files you want to recover.
4.- Now click on Recover in and select the folder where you want the recovered files to be saved.
5.- Finally click on Recover to start the process and the software will recover the files from the iOS device to the computer.
As you can see the process of recovering data with Disk Drill 3 is very simple. In the example we have shown the process from an iPhone backup, but it is just as simple in case you need to recover data from a hard disk, SSD, iPad, iPod, etc, etc…
