DC Comics publishes its complete catalogue of collections on the Internet through the Apple iBookstore. The digital versions of the company’s comics, which publishes titles such as Superman and Batman, will now also be available online on various platforms, both the Kindle Store and the Nook Store, to enable them to reach tablet and e-reader users, a growing segment of devices.
The company (DC Entertainment)(www.readdcentertainment.com), publisher of the titles that house the adventures of characters such as Superman or Batman, is extending the channels through which the different collections of comic-books will reach its readers, since from now on they will be able to acquire them, in addition to paper, in digital format through Apple’s virtual store, the iBookstore.
With this now are three digital sales services of content through which fans can keep their DC comic book collections up to date. These contents can now be accessed in digital format through Apple’s virtual store at the same time as they are offered in the Kindle Store and NOOK Store virtual stores.
The historic company, with decades of publications and thousands of characters behind it, was already the first to make the leap into digital by offering them on the Internet on the same day they appeared on newsstands and in stores . Now it is sending all its collections over the Internet, becoming the first publisher in the sector to offer this diversity of download options, according to Jim Lee, co-director of the publisher, as reported in MacDailyNews.
He also referred to the fact that in a market where electronic book readers and tablets are becoming more and more popular , it is important for DC Publishing to take advantage of this channel to reach readers in a more comfortable, fast and dynamic way, while offering them the versatility of being able to choose the distribution platform that best suits their habits and needs.
The agreement DC has reached with the various platforms ensures that virtually any electronic device can access its contents. In addition to these three online stores , DC Entertainment itself also continues to offer downloads of its titles from its own website and through the iOS and Android applications of its main labels, DC Comics and Vertigo.
