This may be the rumor of the week. Corel , known for creative applications like CorelDRAW, WordPerfect and Corel Painter; may announce the acquisition of Parallels today as leaked by Paul Thurrot. This is of course the well-known Parallels that allows us to run virtual versions of MacOS, Windows and Linux on our Macs.
In the absence of specific details, rumors indicate that this would be a cash purchase so that Parallels would be completely absorbed into the Corel family of applications. To date, Parallels has been an independent company, not dependent on anyone else to operate.
At AppleYou can now install Mojave MacOS in Parallels thanks to its version 14
We don’t know what the consequences of this purchase will be , and we can’t be sure what reasons both Corel and Parallels will have for accepting the purchase. It may simply be that Corel wanted to take advantage of Parallels’ profitability, without further ado. Or, as Thurrot says on his website, Corel is taking advantage of Parallels technology to bring all its applications to MacOS.
As always, at this point we can only speculate. We will be watching to see if the news is officially confirmed or if it ends up being denied.
