The idea of iCloud’s streaming photos is very good, but not everyone likes it. And already many rival companies have been encouraged to get our attention with applications and alternative methods of keeping our photos accessible anywhere, such as the automatic upload option in Dropbox and Google+. Now it’s Amazon that launches its own iOS application for storing photos in the cloud: Cloud Drive Photos .
Amazon’s bet is not much different from other similar programs: we can upload our photos and classify them in albums that will be stored in our Cloud Drive. We can activate an automatic photo upload that will work as long as the application is turned on, and there is no lack of options to share any image via email, Twitter or Facebook.
Cloud Drive Photos is also capable of browsing iCloud streaming photos and the film, and can be used as a replacement for the photo application pre-installed in iOS. It is free , but there is no version for iPad and you need iOS 6 to work. As for the available space we have for storing photos, Amazon offers us 5 GB for free and we can buy additional GB for $0.5 per year each.
As I said before, we have a lot of services to store photos in the cloud, but this new software from Amazon can be a good addition to our 5GB “disaster drawer” for when we need to free up space on our iPhones.
