Christopher Stringer, who has been one of Apple’s industrial designers for more than 21 years, is leaving the company.
Christopher Stringer, Jony Ive’s right-hand man in the design of Apple devices
Not much is known about Jony Ive’s design team, so little else is known about Christoper Stringer . His departure comes some two years after Ive became Apple’s Chief Design Officer, and left behind the management of the company’s design team. At that time the role he previously held fell into the hands of Richard Howarth.
According to the website The Information , Stringer has been part of Jony Ive’s team and had a hand in the design of the iPhone. In addition, he not only helped design this device, but by being part of Ive’s team, he was instrumental in the final design of the iPad and Mac for the last 20 years.
Another designer left the team during the past year
Christopher Stringer is the second of Ive’s team to leave the company after his role change. Last year, Daniel Coster who had also been on Apple’s design team for over 20 years, left the company to join GoPro. In this case it is not known which company Stringer goes to after leaving Cupertino’s company.
The departure of these designers, only puts into question the role of Jony Ive within the company of the bitten apple. In fact, many believe that Apple’s CDO should be abandoned or that it has many points of exit of its own. His words, however, are in denial as he confesses that he is still as devoted and dedicated to Apple as he has ever been.
What do you think of the departure of these designers from Apple over the last year? Do you think it has anything to do with the change of role of Jony Ive? Leave your opinion in the comment box.
