The new iPad seems to have been instrumental in this new surge in Apple’s tablet and the survey reflects a general decline in purchase intent over all other manufacturers’ models, with Samsung in second place falling from 10% to 8% , Amazon in third place going from 7% to 6% and HP then also dropping a point to 4% with its small niche of Windows 7 tablets after having (unfortunately) ended its webOS adventure.

On the other hand, IDC estimates that in 2012 Apple will continue to increase its production to 60 million iPads (compared to 14.8 million in 2010 and 40.5 million in 2011) but will see its market share reduced to 54.7% compared to 61.5% in the third quarter of last year. IDC predicts that the production of Android tablets will surpass the iPad in 2016, with a forecast of 94.7 million iPads compared to 100.8 million Android for that year, although the accumulated sum will continue to give the leadership to the apple.
