Apple launches Apps for (RED) promotion to help fight AIDS
The American company has always been known for its commitment to the environment, but also for doing its bit to combat AIDS in Africa. For many years we have seen how Apple and (RED) have worked closely together to help fight this disease through a product line called (PRODUCT)RED , which is characterised by the colour red. Now, this collaboration has also reached the App Store with a temporary section of 25 applications, all of which will go to the Global Fund.
Smart Cover for iPad and iPad Mini, several iPod models or protective cases for the new iPhone 6 are the current (PRODUCT)RED items for which Apple is donating part of their price to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. These devices and accessories can usually be found, but have now launched a limited promotion in the app store called Apps for (RED) .
As Apple says in a press release on its website, the Apps for (RED) campaign is the first global promotion on the App Store for this cause. Therefore, between November 24th and December 7th, every time you buy one of the apps participating in (PRODUCT)RED or make an in-app purchase within it, the full amount will be donated to the Global Fund .
Enjoy amazing applications and do your bit against AIDS
Tim Cook himself points out that at Apple are proud to be partners with (RED) because they believe that the gift of life is the most important gift anyone can give . On the other hand, he comments that for 8 years the customers of the apple company have been helping to fight AIDS in Africa by financing life-saving treatments that are having a very positive impact through the purchase of PRODUCT(RED) items.
However, this year they want to go one step further and have decided to launch a special section in the App Store for a limited time through which Apple and several application developers invite their users to help achieve the goal of an AIDS-free generation. Over the next two weeks Apps for (RED) will offer 25 applications with new and exclusive content where all proceeds will be donated to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.
But it doesn’t stop there, as Apple has also announced that it will donate a percentage of the sales made through Apple’s retail stores and online store during Black Friday and Cyber Monday . These are two of the days of the year in which most purchases occur within the technology market and this time will be held on November 28 and December 1, respectively.
What applications are within the Apps for (RED) promotion?
As we have said before, Apps for (RED) consists of a total of 25 applications. Both Apple and the developers will donate all proceeds from both the purchase of the application itself and from in-app purchases that occur between November 24th and December 7th . These applications have been updated with a special red icon so that they can be easily identified and also include new and exclusive content.
As we see in the press release published by Apple, the Apps campaign for (RED) consists of the following applications :
