Apple works with TSMC on microLED technology to replace OLED displays

Apple has just introduced OLED technology on its latest iPhone, the iPhone X, although it is lagging behind other brands such as its main competitor, Samsung . It seems that this is a temporary situation, since what has taken so long to arrive may soon disappear. Apple is already investigating microLED technology with TSMC so that the screens of its next devices will have this technology by removing the OLED.

MicroLED displays have more benefits than OLED or LCD displays. With the microLED we will have more brightness, better color saturation and of course, greater energy efficiency , something that is necessary for the iPhone to have more autonomy.

MicroLed Technology

It is currently under investigation, although it seems that Apple has reduced the equipment it has in Taiwan, but they are still working on solving some problems in the manufacture of this technology. As Apple says, they don’t want to be the first but they do want to be the best. Apple already recognized that they were in the process of testing, as the Digitimes media that gives us this news has already picked up.

Although it seems that Apple has not thrown in the towel despite these problems because they are working with TSMC , a company dedicated to developing boards to solve this problem that we commented earlier.

Tell us what you think about this microLED technology. Is LED the future?
