Apple acquired ‘LegbaCore’ to improve the software and firmware of its products

“CAVE CANEM”

Last November the apple company made a secret acquisition to improve the security of its equipment. As reported by MacRumors in recent hours, the purchase of this firm was initially revealed by security investigator Trammell Hudson, during a presentation at the 32C3 conference last December.

No major details related to the acquisition are yet known, as Apple has not officially reported this move. However, it is important to note that Xeno Kovah, founder of LegbaCore, and his partner Corey Kallenberg have been working full-time at Apple since November 2015, handling the “low-level security” .

Although it may seem like a little-known company to many, LegbaCore is renowned for having detected the existence of Thunderstrike 2, a computer worm capable of infecting any Mac at the firmware level. This was the first time that a worm was able to reach the firmware of Macs , and that triggered alerts in Cupertino, where they felt the need to redouble their efforts to protect that delicate part of their systems.

For this reason, MacRumors indicated that Apple has most likely acquired this company to use the talents of Kovah and Kallenberg to improve the security firmware and software in future iterations of its hardware and software products.
