Since the arrival of the Apple Watch on the market almost 4 years ago, one of the most demanded functions has been the sleep control . Although Apple has not included it natively, we have several applications that can be downloaded from the App Store. In our list of essential apps for the Apple Watch we have 2 that control sleep.
However, this may no longer be necessary very soon as Mark Gurman on Bloomberg, reported a few minutes ago that Apple may add the sleep monitoring function to the Apple Watch next year.
According to the sources consulted by Mark Gurman, Apple has been secretly testing a function capable of measuring and monitoring our sleep for months and if the tests that are being carried out turn out positive the function will reach the Apple Watch next year .
One of the biggest drawbacks to monitoring sleep with the Apple Watch is the battery. We are used to taking off our watch and leaving it charging at night . That’s why Apple hasn’t decided to launch this feature yet, maybe in 2020 they will be in a position to offer a longer battery life in the Apple Watch, 4 or 5 days, and then this feature would make sense.
Let’s remember that more than a year ago, in 2017, Apple acquired the company specialized in measuring the salary Beddit. This company’s devices are sold in the Apple Store and since its acquisition Apple has been testing new technologies and ways to bring sleep control to the Apple Watch.
Many of Apple’s rivals in the smartwatch market** have sleep measurement features**. However, this does not seem to be something that people demand too much as the Apple Watch remains the undisputed market leader. Although a function like this is always welcome.
