In November of last year, Apple announced that they were opening a new factory in Mesa, Arizona. Since then the information has been dropping out, and we only know that this factory was going to be dedicated to the production of sapphire glass for future Apple products .
The factory will be operated by Apple together with GT Advanced Technologies, and now new documents have been leaked to confirm these facts. In the document, you can see the relationship between the U.S. Foreign Trade officials and the deputy director of Global Trade, and the materials Apple will use to produce sapphire. We can also see more details about the aggressive plan to start up the factory, and how the sapphire will be used in future Apple devices .
Although Tim Cook refused to give more details in his interview to ABC, nor when the sapphire crystals would start to be built, this document reveals that it will be in February when the production will start . If production starts in February we could think that the new products would be launched at the end of this year.
As we see, they speak of a new critical sub-component, which tells us nothing. But see the new word indicates that they are working on a component never before used in Apple products . This added to the rumors that Foxconn will be assembling the sapphire screens for the next iPhone, could confirm that this factory will be making sapphire screens.
