Its augmented reality system has proven that you don’t need gadgets and dedicated devices just to get augmented reality graphics, with a simple iPhone or iPad with iOS 11 is enough . One of the many fields where you can take advantage of this is in video games.
The Game Developer conference is one of the biggest game developer conferences of the year and this year Apple will be present. Under the name ‘Introduction to Apple’s ARKit: Best practices and recent updates’ the company will make a presentation within the conference to bring developers closer to ARKit . According to Apple’s description, they will focus on talking about and showing “basic concepts” of ARKit.
GDC 2018 will take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. It will take place between March 19 and 23 of this year. Michael Kuhn, one of Apple’s leaders in the ARKit engineering team, will host the ARKit presentation. We’ll see if there are any surprises or new details about what’s coming up in ARKit during these days, but most likely these new features of ARKit 2.0 will be reserved for the WWDC this coming June.
Why is it important for Apple to make this presentation then? Because Apple is usually “a ghost” in this type of conferences, it usually walks around all kinds of technology events but never is the protagonist of any stand or presentation, everything is developed in own events like the WWDC or the keynote. That it makes an appearance at the GDC shows that there is a clear intention to expand ARKit to video games and to attract talent to its platform and the App Store. And this is nothing but benefits for end users.
