Just a few minutes ago Apple released watchOS 5, an update that promises to bring many new features to our Apple Watch so that in our day to day we are much or more productive focusing on new areas and improvements in Health, something that is logical because the news related to new patents that predict a new Apple Watch that will intervene much more directly in our health.

This update comes loaded with new features that will go through a process of betas throughout these months until we see the final version released in September.

All the new features of watchOS 5 are as follows:

  • As a curious fact, we see a 60% growth of the Apple Watch last year.

Activity

  • Improvements in activity focusing on Yoga.
  • Improvements in outdoor exercise such as running or walking with new customised alerts and the incorporation of cadence data.
  • It is automatically detected when you start exercising, stopping when you stop.
  • Improved activity statistics and how to share them with our contacts.

Siri

  • Apple eliminates “Hey Siri” in the Apple Watch. We no longer have to invoke her in this way, as simply by bringing our watch closer to her mouth, she will detect that we want to talk to her.

WebKit

  • Apple has incorporated WebKit into the Apple Watch to allow you to view richer content. We’ll be able to view web content on our Apple Watch, something that really catches our eye.
  • With this we can do something as common as booking a table for dinner while we are exercising.

Applications

  • The Podcast application comes to the Apple Watch with the ability to synchronize all our lists.
  • We can ask Siri to play our favorite Podcast program.
  • Wallis Talkie is added, which appears to be an instant voice mail system. It is a native application with which we can talk directly with our friends or family.
  • New application that will measure the air quality of our environment.

Messages

  • As seen in the demo, if you send us a document through iMessage as a PDF, we can read it with our Apple Watch.

Wallet

  • Students may add our student card to the Wallet so that we can present it at any time. This is limited to certain colleges.

New spheres

  • The sphere inspired by the gay pride flag we talked about a few days ago has been confirmed.

As confirmed by Apple, this update will be available to everyone in the fall and to developers in the next few minutes.
