The laptop charger is a very dangerous element. It causes more accidents than we can imagine. Tripping over the cable and the equipment falling to the floor with its consequent breakage. This is a problem that Apple managed to solve with the MagSafe connector. On January 10, 2006, at MacWorld Expo in San Francisco, Cupertino presented this concept with the first MacBook Pro and it has been with his notebooks for years. This connector remains magnetically attached to the device , so there is no tugging.
However, with the arrival of the latest Mac notebook models, the MagSafe has disappeared. It is not compatible with the new USB-C standard used to recharge your batteries. But Apple doesn’t rule out resurrecting it in the future, and proof of that is in some of its latest patents.
Apple is always thinking of new ways to improve its products. Every year it files a multitude of patents with all kinds of ideas , and many of them never become reality. But this one, which has just been published in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, makes many users particularly excited.
Patently Apple has collected information from this patent that imagines a new magnetic connector for electronic devices .
This media talked a few days ago about a possible waterproof iPhone , but that is not realistic because the Lightning connector could not resist it. However, with this new magnetic connector there would be no problem at all. It could also be used on MacBooks; there’s even talk of adding a haptic sensor to enhance the experience.
Considering that the concept was registered not long ago, it is very unlikely that we will see it in the short term in any of the Apple devices, but it looks very good and we would like to see it arrive.
