Apple TV would keep its name and Apple wants to test its new data center

MacRumors y Cult of Mac

Firstly, Australian sources have informed Macworld staff in that country that Apple TV will continue to be called that, and will not be immediately available for purchase . They even provided the product code: Apple TV – USA MC572 LLA (no, I don’t like that ‘USA’ much either).

The same source (which by the way has a good success record) has communicated that we will indeed have a new iPod touch with everything we expected, and the rest of the iPod range is supposed to receive modifications as well.

Another breaking news that has reached us just a few moments ago is related to the video streaming that Apple itself will do from its official website: it seems that the streaming is itself an exercise to test the performance and capabilities of the new data center in North Carolina.

It is expected that these tests will provide some feedback from the data load that will be involved in relaying the keynote to hundreds of thousands of devices. The data center is not yet finished (it will be by the end of the year), but this shows us that the company already has at least part of the servers up and running and they want to test what they are capable of.

We’ll start the follow-up shortly. Stand by!
