That Apple intends to increase its presence within the automotive world is clear, not directly of course (we will not see any iCar) but in a complementary way, bring the iOS environment to all areas of our lives. We saw it yesterday with the interesting news that Apple was beginning a period of collaboration with Ferrari, and the first proof of this was the inclusion of two mini iPads in the back seat of the new LaFerrari for the enjoyment of its occupants. It seems that now Apple wants to go beyond the simple docking of an iPad Mini in a back seat and integrate iOS in a much more uniform way within the car market.
Apple has posted jobs looking for engineers to improve the integration of iOS with in-car audio equipment
Apple surprised many by posting a new job opening that sought engineers who could improve the integration of iOS with in-car audio equipment. This is not the first time that Apple has posted jobs related to automotive-oriented development, but it is especially significant that it was posted right after announcing the start of a “strong period of collaboration with Ferrari. Will this be another of the company’s long-term commitments?
This is the ad that Apple has posted for all those interested in the position:
We have to remember that many cars included the famous 30-pin connector adapter to connect our device, but it seems that Apple is trying to take this to a new level. Maybe it’s just the spearhead for something much bigger they’re dealing with. Did someone say Siri?
We can only wait to see what Apple’s next move is, but what is certain is that the automobile market is a very succulent market to be exploited in which new technologies have not dared to enter. Currently we can find interesting concepts on the Internet of how a hypothetical iCar would be: dashboards with iOS interface, Siri, Applications… A dream.
