Connecting your PS4 controller to your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV

With the arrival of Apple Arcade both the iPad and the iPhone are gaining quite a bit of weight in the world of video games, but the gameplay is unfortunately not the most correct as they don’t have a keyboard, a mouse or a controller. That’s why Apple wanted to make the PS4 controller compatible with the iPad and iPhone in order to play more comfortably as if it were a console.

Many of the games we find in Apple Arcade are already compatible with third party controllers such as Play, Xbox or other certified brands. This is ideal for racing or adventure games as we can have a better experience with this improved controller. We think this is one of the best decisions Apple has ever made and we hope that in the future there will be better games that can be controlled with the controllers.

At first, we can’t reach and search for the remote control by going to Settings> Bluetooth as it doesn’t work like a normal accessory, but we must activate the pairing mode as we will explain below.

Specifically to connect the controls of the PS4 to our iPad or iPhone we must follow the following steps:

  1. Take the PS4 controller and hold down the PS button and the Share button for about 5-10 seconds
  2. The control will turn off and the light on the front will start flashing. This will mean that you enter the pairing mode.
  3. Now we can go on our iPad or iPhone to Bluetooth Settings to finish pairing.

Once we’ve done this, we’ll be able to play all the compatible games on Apple Arcade or the App Store with our controllers. It is clear that playing with the iPad if you have a model with a very large screen is not very comfortable as you will have to keep it held by its weight. This way we can have the iPad supported on a table and play easily from a chair or from the sofa in a much more comfortable way.

It is also important to note that by following these same steps we can connect the controller to our Apple TV so we can play Apple Arcade or other third party games on the big screen in our living room or bedroom.

Let us know in the comment box what you think about this way of connecting the Play command to your devices.
