The first news of the afternoon (Spanish time) is the complete renovation of the Apple portable range with the update of the MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air and the launch of a new 15-inch professional model.
The new MacBook Pro features a battery that promises 7 hours of battery life and over 1000 charge cycles (about 5 years). But not only is it smaller and lighter, it’s also the fastest laptop Apple has ever made: up to 3.06 GHz, 8GB of RAM (4 GB base), 500 GB hard drive or 256 GB SSD, and a screen that’s up to the highest standards, with a 60% greater colour gamut. An interesting decision is the replacement of the ExpressCard slot by a SD card reader , probably much more useful for 99% of the users. Its price is between 1,699 (2.53 GHz) and 2,229 dollars depending on the configuration we choose.
As for its big brother, the 17-inch MacBook Pro , not only cuts its price to $2,499, but it’s now available with 2.8GHz speed, 500GB of hard drive, better battery, and SD card reader while keeping the ExpressCard slot. What about the 13-inch MacBook? Assimilated. Now they’re all Pro except for the white model, which is a 13-inch Pro from $1199 and yes, also with an SD card reader, better battery, and better display.
Finally, following the general trend, the new MacBook Air also increases in power and decreases in price. The 1.86GHz processor model costs just $1499 ($300 less than the previous model), and the 128GB SDD configuration option drops to $1799 ($700 less than before, wow).
