Update: Apple has released a few minutes ago the fourth public beta of iOS 12, macOS 10.14 and tvOS 12 which are identical to these fifth developer betas.
After two weeks of waiting since the last batch of betas that Apple released to developers, today Apple has decided to release the fifth beta of iOS 12, watchOS 5, tvOS 12 and macOS 10.14 only for developers, although in the next hours the corresponding public betas will be available except for watchOS 5, for more than known reasons.
What do we see again in the fifth beta of iOS 12?
Without a doubt the beta that interests us most is iOS 12, as it is the company’s star operating system. This beta that has a weight of 507 MB and we hope that it ends up solving some bugs that were reported in the third beta like the failed download of some apps from the Store or the misleading information that gives us the battery icon and coverage.
In the notes that Apple offers to developers they report that they have found new bugs thanks to the user feed back s, and of course they have solved problems that had been reported before.
These bugs reported in the developer’s notes have been walked through by MacRumors and are
- After rebooting the device, accessories that are paired via Bluetooth may not work properly.
- The use of Apple Pay Cash could fail to send or receive money, something that does not affect us in Spain.
- In CarPlay Siri you may not open applications by name as the shortcuts you use are failing, which was the case in the fourth beta.
- By having several car-sharing applications, Siri may not open the correct application or present the given information in a wrong way. Apple’s solution is to ask again.
- Users may not see the custom user interface when using Siri Suggestions or Shortcuts.
Among the errors fixed , the problem when installing an App Store app for the first time, the inaccuracy of the battery icon and coverage, the inability to open Wallet or the inaccurate information provided by “Screen usage time” stand out.
The visual news are unfortunately null as the development team is focused on solving all the reported bugs in order to have in less than two months a polished operating system when it arrives to all supported iPhone and iPad.
What about the rest of the betas?
If we move on to talk about the watchOS 5 beta, we don’t see anything to highlight either. With a weight of 188 MB we do not expect to find anything interesting , only the resolution of certain bugs and above all an improvement in performance and autonomy. It is true that in this last beta the performance has been surprisingly good, but we still miss that the battery lasts a little longer . This will surely be solved in future betas.
This beta is only available to developers, as most of you already know, because if a user enters this beta program he or she will not be able to take the Apple Watch out of it, being “condemned” to go from beta to beta. We will certainly bring you our experience with performance improvements in a few days.
Regarding macOS 10.14 or Mojave, we hope that the amount of bugs that have been presented in the last betas like the i mposibility of Safari to remember the logins , the overheating that has been reported by some users or the high consumption of battery will be solved. As a visual novelty, as in iOS 12, we see absolutely nothing. As we test this beta we will keep you informed.
Finally, we can say little about tvOS 12 since we have not been able to test it due to the lack of hardware and above all because the main novelties of this update are intended for the US public. It is worth noting that beta after beta is unlocking new screensavers from those that were presented at WWDC 2018 and that did not debut in the first beta.
If you want to try these betas, except the watchOS 5, in the next hours or days we will see the fourth public beta available.
Leave us in the comments box your opinion about these betas and if you have found any news to highlight.
