Apple releases iTunes Pass to recharge using Passbook… but only in Japan

9to5Mac

The card for Passbook is available through the iTunes Store inside iOS, with a special button. This card has a QR code that store employees will scan to put a balance in your iTunes account without waiting for anything else. Recharging is done immediately, so we can start using the balance as soon as we finish talking to the Apple Store staff.

Of course, it’s a pretty convenient way to be able to put money into songs and applications, even if you’re only active in Japan at the moment. And we may never see it in other countries: in Japan they prefer to have credit and not pay with credit cards while in most countries in the rest of the world it’s quite the opposite . Or maybe Japan will serve as a guinea pig before iTunes Pass expands to the rest of the world… it’s all to see if the Japanese adopt this novelty well.
