At last! Apple has introduced the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus at the keynote at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California.
Along with the new generation smartphone, Apple has also unveiled one of the biggest secrets of this keynote : the EarPods of the iPhone 7.
In principle, as the leaks suggested, Apple had three options:
- Bluetooth EarPods
- EarPods Lightning
- EarPod Adapter
In theory, Apple had a small problem with the last two alternatives. How would users charge the iPhone 7 battery with a Lightning EarPod or a Lightning USB adapter? The answer is easy: the new EarPods offer an additional battery of up to 5 hours.
And finally, Apple has opted for… All three! The company has introduced EarPods Lightning and Bluetooth AirPods , including a USB-Lightning adapter for third party headsets. What a surprise!
The Apple Bluetooth AirPods feature a W1 chip and a dual optical sensor, and are designed to be much more elongated for a better microphone experience.
As far as Phill Schiller is concerned, Apple will sell its EarPods Lightning in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus package, while the Bluetooth AirPods and the USB-Lightning Headset Adapter will be sold separately. The AirPods will cost $159 .
