TUAW> Data Center Knowledge
Another Apple data center is going to be built in Santa Clara , a small town in California located in the middle of Silicon Valley and right next to Cupertino.
This new data center will be nowhere near the size of North Carolina’s, but will consume more than 2.2 Megawatts . It will go into operation this September, and the site has been rented to a company called DuPont Fabros that can offer more space in case Apple wants to expand the facilities.
Its usefulness can be very varied: from offering support for all those services in the cloud that are rumored to store the official website or internal company data. What is unquestionable is that Apple is going to need many servers for something that we could see soon , perhaps in the same WWDC that will arrive in two weeks.
