Recently we witnessed Apple and Qualcomm finally making peace after a long legal battle over their patents. Apple did not want to reveal at any time the economic background of this agreement as commented in the presentation of results of Q2 2019 but it seems that since Qualcomm have skipped this line and have indirectly revealed the amount of money that Apple has had to pay that would be 4.7 billion dollars.
When the deal was announced, many analysts speculated that Apple ended up paying $7 billion, a figure that arose from the amount of money Qualcomm would have stopped earning because of these legal patent issues.
Now, according to Axios, Qualcomm has published in its financial report the income of 4.6 billion dollars. There is no doubt that this income would correspond to the fruit of this legal agreement for future cooperation.
As we mentioned before, this money would be perfectly measured since Apple stopped paying Qualcomm for the rights to use its modems on the iPhone. This money has had to be refunded retroactively now and that is why this is not a random figure but has been paid just after these months in which there was no commercial agreement.
In addition to this money, we hope this agreement will open the door to the new iPhone 5G, although Tim Cook himself couldn’t help commenting a few days ago that he is very concerned about the cost of this technology and that it could end up affecting users in a negative way.
Leave us in the comment box what you think of this agreement and the amount Cupertino’s company has had to pay out.
