A patent by Apple shows a screen composed of several individual screens to simulate depth and achieve a 3D effect . This screen could be included in the company’s next iPad…
One year ago, the USPTO published an Apple patent showing a stack of three overlapping screens . With minimal spacing, these screens form three different layers of the same object on each screen, thus achieving the 3D effect.
Rumours of a 3D screen for future iPads are not new. In May of this year, RCR Wireless suggested that the next generation iPad would include a 3D screen . So far, no one knows if Apple is still researching this technology and if it will apply it in the future.
As usual, these designs can remain a simple concept. Apple often patents many ideas that eventually go unused and including three screens can raise the price of the next iPad, especially if it includes a retina display.
It seems that even the iPad is not alien to the 3D fashion that the audiovisual world is experiencing.
