This does not mean, of course, that it will do so immediately upon the release of the new iOS update, which we will remember to release next week. Rather, lines of code have been discovered within GM 4.2.1 , which point to the idea that Apple is looking to offer certain MobileMe services for free . Apple could be looking to compete with the services offered by Google on its Android terminals, which are completely free.
As we told you at Apple a few months ago, apple’s interest in offering certain services in its MobileMe package for free seemed obvious. And while nothing has happened yet, certain error messages found in the iOS GM may reinforce these suspicions. These include messages such as, ” The maximum number of free MobileMe accounts on this iPhone has already been activated “.
What could these services be? The most obvious would be Find My iPhone , allowing us to locate and delete or block a lost iPhone, or put it to work, perhaps a way of being able to restore contacts and applications installed when the disaster occurs and we are too far away from our Mac. We already know that the famous Apple data center is practically finished and we still don’t know very well in what Apple could squeeze all its possibilities. In my humble opinion we will see an important announcement from Apple about this within one or two years.
After the jump I leave you an image with the MacRumors error message collection in iOS 4.2
