The new high-end MacBook Pro isn’t the only surprise today. Apple has taken advantage of this launch to start selling an exclusive eGPU . This is the Blackmagic eGPU, and it may mean that Cupertino has started to collaborate directly with this brand.

The Blackmagic eGPU connects via Thunderbolt 3 to MacBook Pros with that connection (not necessarily the ones that appeared today) and provides all the graphics performance of the Radeon Pro 580 graphics card . The Thunderbolt cable, whose price usually provokes discussions, is included.

The accessory can also be used as a connection hub : it includes four USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt 3 inputs in the form of USB-C and an HDMI port to give some flexibility when connecting external monitors. Of course, Apple recommends the LG UltraFine 5K.

And of course, the Blackmagic GPU also delivers up to 85W of power to its Thunderbolt 3 ports so you can charge the most powerful MacBook Pro directly from this eGPU and without the need for additional power outlets. You can get it for $695 at the Apple Store in Spain. Unfortunately there is no trace of the Blackmagic eGPU in the Mexican store.
