At the end of March, Apple released the fourth iOS 8.3 Beta, in which they doubled the number of Emojis, but if there is one thing that should be highlighted, it is undoubtedly that this is the second public Beta available to both developers and those users registered in the test program. To everyone’s surprise, Apple released yesterday the final version of iOS 8.3 for all users with a lot of improvements and new features .

A few days ago, we reported that iOS 8 already has a 78% adoption rate of Apple devices. If we compare with other versions we see that the upgrade trend has decreased a bit, but it is still in most of the supported devices and who knows if the arrival of iOS 8.3 can give it a boost.

In addition, it should be noted that prior to the release of iOS 8.3 they have released OS X 10.10.3 , a new version of the computer operating system. But today we will focus only on iOS 8.3, its new features and the download links for each compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch model.

iOS 8.3 includes 300 Emojis, improvements to CarPlay, Siri, Apple Pay and more

Before we get into the new features of iOS 8.3, it is worth mentioning that curiously enough the version has been released only a few days before the Apple Watch pre-reservation period starts tomorrow. Although it must be said that there do not seem to be any new features related to the Watch or changes to those already present from iOS 8.2.

One of the new features that has attracted the most attention in iOS 8.3 is the new Emojis keyboard system, which now has 300 emojis representing a greater racial diversity, but this is not the only new feature in this version. At the operational level, in iOS 8.3 , WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, the operation of third party keyboards or the Safari application , among other things, have been improved.

Apple has also made significant improvements to the way Messages works in iOS 8.3, correcting errors that prevented forwarding or deleting a message, previewing a photo taken from the application, the ability to filter iMessage messages, or marking them as unwanted. In addition, it should be noted that in iOS 8.3 the CarPlay connection has been improved and Apple Pay support has been added for Chinese users thanks to UnionPay and its network.

In iOS 8.3 also the iCloud photo library has been improved, which is no longer in Beta phase, Siri includes new languages , the keyboard space bar has been slightly increased in size to avoid errors, the App Store allows you to download free apps without having to enter your password and the pronunciation of some streets in Maps has been improved. In addition, in iOS 8.3, Apple has fixed several business application installation and update bugs, and user-reported VoiceOver-related accessibility errors have been fixed.

As you can see, the list of new features in iOS 8.3 is very long, but we have only listed the most important ones. It must be said that this version is not compatible with Jailbreak, so if you have it made and you update it you will lose it. As always, this version is available for all compatible devices through iTunes or Via OTA (Over The Air), but if you want you can download iOS 8.3 on your computer to update it later, even when you don’t have an internet connection.
