How to make audio recordings with the Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is increasingly multi-purpose, and while it has logical limitations due to its size, the truth is that many functions can be carried out thanks to it. One of them is to record audio through the clock, which was previously only possible with some third-party apps that did not work at all well. But there is already a native way to record voice notes on watchOS. How? We show you.

Surely on more than one occasion you have needed to make a note of something and have not had a notebook or a device like the iPhone to do so. Or maybe you have and yet it is too tedious at the time. That’s why recording quick audio notes on the Apple Watch is a great solution and since the arrival of watchOS 6 it’s possible to do it through the native app that has precisely the name Voice Notes.

The only requirement, which we have already said, is the operating system and is that if you have a version prior to watchOS 6 you can not have this native app. The way to do the recordings in the Apple Watch is really simple, just open the app of Voice Notes in your Apple Watch and then press the red button to start the recording.

To stop the recording, you must press the button on the screen again, the classic square symbol. At the time of you can listen to the recordings from your own clock, which is also very useful so that you don’t have to resort to another device. However, listening to a voice note on the Apple Watch can be difficult at times if there is a lot of noise in the room, so you can listen to these same recordings on all those iPhone, iPad and Mac where you have the same Apple ID linked to the clock.

If you then want to delete the recording you will also have it very easy, as you just need to open the note in question from the clock, click on the three dots in the lower right corner and click on “delete”. From other computers where the recordings are synchronized, you can also delete them and make them disappear from the Watch.

Obviously, the recording will not be of the highest quality and this audio cannot even be put to professional use, even though it can be processed later on other equipment. But, as we said at the beginning, this option is attractive for those occasions when you need to remember something.

Are there alternatives on the App Store for recording audio with the Apple Watch? Of course, and there are some that are also very good. However, we think that perhaps nothing else is needed than the native app, since it perfectly fulfills the purpose that most users may have when they want to record audio with their watch.
