Less than two hours away from the keynote, a last-minute signal arouses suspicions about what we can see in Steve Jobs’ hand. Some renewal payments for the MobileMe service are being returned , suggesting that the service will experience changes that have to do with the iCloud launch this afternoon.
As all of you who have subscribed to Apple’s current cloud data service will know, the MobileMe annual fee is paid automatically, upon notice by mail in case we want to unsubscribe. If we don’t, the payment is made and we go on to have another year of MobileMe. Well, some TUAW readers have reported that payments made these days have been returned from Apple the day after renewal .
We don’t know the price of iCloud yet (it’s a little early to tell), but the fact that Apple is refunding the full cost of MobileMe reflects that there will be changes in the way you pay at least (everything is still the same on the official MobileMe website for now). If your MobileMe subscription expires this week, please check your current account with both hands crossed.
Remember, the live keynote tracking will begin shortly before 7pm in our Apple Live section.
