Following the line of the last few years, Apple is preparing a total of three new iPhones for 2019. According to a new report in the Wall Street Journal, Cupertino’s company will launch three iPhones in September, of which one will keep the LCD screen (like the iPhone XR) and another will have a triple camera (supposedly the largest).

The LCD Liquid Retina screen on the iPhone XR has proven to be a match for OLEDs. Apple has one of the best LCD color calibrations on the market and perhaps the only point where the LCD can falter in front of the OLED is in pure black. However, given the lower manufacturing cost, the Liquid Retina screen compensates in some iPhone models.

On the other hand, we must also take into account the logistics and production capacity of OLED screens. Apple’s suppliers cannot always meet a demand as great as that generated by the iPhone every year. That’s why Apple has launched OLED display models on a staggered basis year after year. It is expected that by 2020 all iPhone models will come with an OLED screen.

Another curiosity of the WSJ report has to do with this year’s iPhone cameras. According to the media, Apple will add a second camera to the lower level iPhone (the one with the LCD screen that succeeds the iPhone XR). It will therefore have a dual camera system like the iPhone XS and XS Max right now.

Although the surprise will undoubtedly be given by the most powerful iPhone of all, the supposed successor of the iPhone XS Max. This new phone will make the leap to three cameras instead of two as it has now even on the back. What for? It’s a question that has not yet been resolved, it’s probably a question of augmented reality. The “intermediate” iPhone seems to keep the two cameras for the time being.

The year begins and the rumors of the new iPhone begin. Throughout the next months and until September we will continue to have reports and some leaks probably. All with the idea of seeing what Apple is preparing for this 2019 in its range of smartphones.
