Apple introduces a new 9.7-inch iPad

Apple has announced the launch of a new 9.7-inch iPad equipped with an A9 chip and a fabulous, much brighter Retina display. This new tablet would replace the current iPad Air 2, which has been discontinued.

In addition, Cupertino’s company has also introduced an iPhone 7 (RED) SE whose sale will help support the Global Fund to fight AIDS.

As for the 2017 iPad models, Apple has made available to consumers three different finishes (Silver, Gold and Space Grey) and two storage capacities (32 GB and 128 GB). All of them available, obviously, with Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular.

New iPad 2017: technical specifications

In terms of design, the new 9.7-inch iPad launched in 2017 is very similar to the iPad Air 2, which had an A8X processor, but is slightly thicker and heavier .

The 2017 iPad’s 9.7-inch processor is an A9 chip with 64-bit architecture , accompanied by an M9 motion co-processor .

It is 24 cm high and 16.95 cm wide, with a thickness of 0.75 cm and a weight of 469 grams .

One of the most interesting new features of this new iPad is its backlit Multi-Touch Retina display . It features IPS technology, an anti-fingerprint oil cover and a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels at 264 pixels per inch.

As for your FaceTime camera of 1.2 Mpx ; it offers face detection, burst mode, timer and video recording at 720p HD.

Your iSight camera 8 Mpx has auto focus, panorama photos, timer, five element lens, exposure control and backlight.

Of course, the new 9.7-inch iPad has the Touch ID functionality with Apple Pay .

The iPad will be available from Friday, March 24 , and from the following week it will start to be delivered to customers. Its cost ranges from £399 to £659 depending on the model and your options.


This iPad is considered a “low-cost” iPad , it will replace the iPad Air 2, and it is possible that Apple has decided to call it simply “iPad” because it is considered a special model in a year so marked as the 10th anniversary of the iPhone.
