And you have to be careful, because the Spanish plugs enter in this replacement program along with the rest of Continental Europe, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Brazil. And all those that have been purchased since 2003 and 2015 are included, so it is time to review. The American and British plugs are not affected.

Specifically, we are talking about the part of the plug that can be separated from the power adapter . Here’s what to look at to determine whether or not ours is affected by this replacement program:

If this is your case, take all the adapters that fit the program and one of four: either request a replacement online, or make an appointment at the Genius Bar of a nearby Apple Store to make the change, or go to an authorized dealer to do the same, or contact Apple technical support.

You may need to look at several adapters, because this type of plug comes with all portable Macs and iPads (and with iPhones of a certain age). MacRumors has a photograph of what happens to plugs that break down, which has only happened twelve times according to official figures from an Apple press release:

It’ll be a matter of taking a good look. In my case, with the whole house full of Apple terminals, it’s gonna take me a while.
