Apple confirms that it has purchased Shazam

Today, something that had been announced was finally made public: the purchase of Shazam by Apple, something that was already announced as a rumour by TechCrunch and that we tell you about in Apple5x1. The price for which it has been bought has not been confirmed by Apple, but according to Recode it would have been 400 million dollars . We are convinced that this agreement will have an impact on WWDC 2018 and iOS 12.

The confirmation was given by an Apple spokesperson to The Verge, where he stated the following:

“We are delighted that Shazam and his talented team will be joining Apple. Apple Music and Shazam are a natural fit, sharing a passion for discovering music and delivering great music experiences to users. We have exciting plans in store, and we hope it will go well with Shazam with today’s approval of the deal.

On the other hand, Shazam, has also launched a statement which has also been picked up by The Verge. Specifically, they have published the following:

We are very happy to announce that Shazam has reached an agreement to become part of Apple. Shazam is one of the most popular apps in the world and loved by hundreds of millions of users and we cannot imagine a better home for Shazam to continue innovating and delivering magic to our users.

Shazam’s team will now get down to work with Apple in a field that is obvious: Apple Music. The main objective will be to improve the user experience in order to attract more people to their paid music service, to finally beat Spotify.

We do not know if Apple will end up closing this application that gives so much public to Spotify because according to official data a day would make a million clicks that would lead to Spotify to listen to a song.

We must see how this agreement ends and the impact on users. Leave us your opinion in the comment box.
